This was my very first time trying white tea.<br />
I've been curious about white tea for quite a while, so I decided to order several white tea samples from Teavivre. I wanted to explore how the character changes from Silver Needle to White Peony, Gongmei, and Shoumei, and also how the teas change from fresh harvests to aged ones over time.<br />
When I first opened this Silver Needle sample, the dry leaves had such a pleasant aroma. I thought the fragrance would become even more beautiful once I brewed it gongfu style. Following Teavivre's recommendation, I used 4g of tea in a 110ml gaiwan with 85°C water.<br />
However, I think my sense of smell isn't very sensitive, so I couldn't really pick up the delicate floral notes that Silver Needle is famous for. That was a little disappointing. Still, I enjoyed the fresh, pleasant aroma that reminded me of grass.<br />
Along with that fresh grassy aroma, I noticed a flavor that reminded me of soy milk. It felt gently creamy, nutty, and refreshing at the same time. That impression stayed with me for about the first three infusions. Around the third or fourth infusion, I started noticing a gentle sweetness. It wasn't a strong sweetness—just a soft, subtle one.<br />
After finishing all six infusions, I noticed a cool, refreshing sensation on my tongue. That was the moment I thought, "So this is one of the characteristics of white tea!"<br />
Overall, I really enjoyed its clean aroma and pure, gentle sweetness. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't detect the delicate floral notes more clearly, but I think I'll try brewing the remaining samples with slightly cooler water next time. Since the water in Korea is much softer than in China, I wonder if the tea extracts a little more easily here.<br />
Overall, I really enjoyed this tea.^^!

Teavivre has sourced an excellent example of Lao Cong Mi Lan Xiang. This Phoenix Dan Cong balances bright orchid aromatics with the structural depth expected from old bush material. The classic honey sweetness is grounded by a distinct mineral base, offering a thick liquor and a lasting hui gan. It holds up exceptionally well across multiple gongfu steepings without yielding to harsh astringency. A reliable and highly refined Oolong that easily earns its place in a regular rotation.

Verdict: Accessible crowd-pleaser
I sampled this red oolong in the gaiwan. "Fruity" and "sweet" are adjectives that get thrown around pretty often when describing various teas, but they really jumped out at me here in early steeps. These aren't qualities you need to hunt for or think about; it's just, "Oh wow, that's really fruity." That does fall off pretty quickly, so by steeps 3-4 it's more balanced, somewhere between a typical light or medium roast oolong and black (red) tea.
In terms of price and quality, I would put this one on the higher end of the "daily drinker" category. However, compared to some of the more premium roasted oolongs like dancongs and yanchas, it's not as complex, mineral, durable, or sophisticated, and of course, it has higher oxidation. However, the qualities I mentioned earlier would make it easier for people who aren't into tea, probably even children, to enjoy it compared to those, and it is hard to over-steep. So this could be great if you're having people over for tea and snacks, for example. It's like a fun and easy California Zinfandel rather than a dry French Malbec.

Steeps up a dark amber color with a very pleasing aroma. It has a slightly burnt honey flavor. It was not the flavor profile for me.

In my ventures with Keemun this is the most balanced one so far it’s very user friendly probably a great place to start if you haven’t experienced Keemun teas no need to go into all the nuances as explained in many other posts but the creaminess in this one is delicious and I get many steeps , I have tried it both suggested methods but find the western method brings out more flavors I like strong forward black teas and this one works for me I still prefer the aromatic snail Keemun for mornings but this one is a great afternoon tea, method 10 oz pot, water 205 F, 8 g tea 1st steep 3 minutes followed by 3 more 4,5,6 minutes all cups are still full of great strong flavor with no bitterness hard to have any negatives with this tea !

Oritental Beauty was the first oolong that won me over when I was exploring teas back in the day. Although I drink it very rarely (oolong in general), it always brings back those memories.
This tea is very potent, thick mouthfeel and rich aroma. From the start this tea shows a clear grape skin notes that stay until the end. First two gongfu steeps are relatively light, but after that it starts getting more thick and intense, the aroma evolves in something resembling peaches with honey and each sip finishes in slight dryness with nutmeg impression and is followed by cooling in the sinuses and the throat.
This experience reminds me of one black tea from Teavivre: Hua Xiang Xiao Zhong. Both are peachy and cooling, and in fact this oolong feels like black tea in the latter steeps. There's some slight roughness with this tea in mouthfeel sense, it reminds me of Second Flush Darjeeling a bit.
After session there is some sweetness sitting around the gums and the tongue is slightly tingling, while every breath feels slightly fresh like after a cool mint.

Dry Leaf: Tightly rolled, deep green clusters.
Liquor: Clear, light yellow.
Taste & Aroma: Smooth, floral, and creamy with a subtle cedarwood finish.
Impression: This is a very pleasant, easy-drinking tea. The light oxidation, floral notes, and buttery mouthfeel bear a strong resemblance to a modern green Anxi Tie Guan Yin.

Ripe pu erh resins can be funky and unappealing with a strong rice smell to me. This one, however, is not. There's still that rice soup smell followed by slight sweetness, but it's rather tame compare to some I've had. The infusion is clean with smooth transition over the mouth and with a slightly dry wooden finish and a touch of bitterness. I might be steeping this tea slightly strong but I prefer it that way. One piece (1g) makes about 700ml of tea for me. Even getting a sample makes this tea very cost-effective, and it definitely beats most if not all ripe pu erh in that low price range.
I carry a piece or two with me in a small pocket in the wallet, it just needs hot water to brew and drink, albeit it gets quite strong if I steep it all in a single cup.

I got this tea on Black Friday last year, drank most of it at work and forgot about it until a few days ago. The cake is finally finished and it's pretty cost-effective every day drink when I don't need a caffeine kick but I need to keep my throat moist due to sinus dripping due to allergies. The flavour is mild but enjoyable and distinguishable enough to savour it while I work. This one seems to perform better with temperature around 90C. When I used boiling water more dry wooden notes and even slight bitterness appeared that reminds me of biting into apple seeds. Having it at lower temperature provides a mellow experience of beeswax, peony and slight date notes.

I was honestly shocked when I saw the recommendation to use boiling water (212°F) for a green tea, but this stuff can absolutely handle it. You just have to adjust your brewing parameters (keeping the steep time short and the leaf-to-water ratio right) and it doesn't get bitter at all.
Instead, hitting it with that heat just blasts out this incredible aroma of toasted hazelnuts and fresh pumpkin seeds, making the texture feel even thicker and more buttery.
Even the dry leaves look amazing—the classic flat, sword-shaped leaves with a soft, pale green color. If you are used to standard, grassy green teas that dry out your mouth, this will completely blow your mind. It is incredibly smooth, sweet, and savory, leaving a clean, refreshing aftertaste that lingers forever. Brewing this makes you realize exactly why high-quality loose leaf is in a completely different league.

Aroma: Exactly as the product page says: stir-fried bean aroma, bit of floral
Taste: Stir-fried bean, sweet. When the product page said "mountain spring" taste, I thought it was marketing hype. But the after-taste does remind me of spring water. This is quite good if you do all the infusions quickly. If you wait too long between infusions, it turns bitter and rinsing with boiling water won't fix it.

If have had more than a few Fengqing golden snail black teas and this one might be the best. These leaves expand more than you think with smooth, honey, sweet notes. Never bitter or astringent. It held it's relaxing body and sweet flavor through 6 or so infusions, which most others don't.

Oh wow, when I decided to try this one I had Grade 2 in mind and thought this is just a slight improvement taste wise. The truth is that this is one of the better breakfast style tasting black teas I had recently, despite such kind of teas not being often in my cup.
The taste is deep and layered, with a lot of tannins balancing nearing the edge of where I'd find it unpleasant if it went over. Keemun specific aroma is there and it fits in nicely with layers of toasty and on cusp of something berry-like. Not something I'd drink often, but maybe every now and then when I need strong tea in the morning.

I decided to purchase this cup because, even though I have a good amount of smaller tea cups, I realized I didn't have one that was larger for solo sessions. I didn't want something too plain but I also don't have the budget for some of the pricier options, so I was astonished to find that this was such an affordable price!
When it arrived, it arrived in a very nice cushioned box that I can use for long-term storage, as it kept it in perfect condition during the shipping process and it looks nice in its simple elegance. Upon opening the box, my first impression was that the blue of the cup wasn't nearly as vibrant as the promotional art depicts but that didn't bother me too much because I know these are hand-made, which can result in differences from the original piece, and it still looked great.
The blue is still a very pleasant shade, though, and the overall design of the cup works perfectly with the lotus bloom in the bottom. Speaking of that, it didn't really do much with a green tea like I made for it on the first day with it, but when I made some Huang Guanyin for a different session, the "silver to gold" effect was genuinely amazing to witness! I really love using this cup for my solo sessions because its design, to me, evokes a peaceful mindset; that effect on the lotus bloom is almost like saying "take the silver in your life and turn it to gold" or, in other words, "don't waste your life, make the most of everything".
It's also visually interesting to watch the bubbles that are produced from pouring the tea directly onto the lotus bloom. It makes the already aesthetically pleasing process of pour tea even more enjoyable.
I also really appreciate the way this cup handles heat. The aforementioned Huang Guanyin is a rock oolong and those take boiling water if you brew gong fu, but holding the cup after that didn't burn my hands as long as I held it by the lip (as I typically do anyways). It also didn't cool so fast as to become cold quickly, but it did cool at a good rate so I didn't have to wait to start sipping.
Altogether, for that price point, you really can't beat what you get here. You know it's good when even family members, some of which don't like tea that much, are saying how much they wish they had one of these!
