Oh wow, when I decided to try this one I had Grade 2 in mind and thought this is just a slight improvement taste wise. The truth is that this is one of the better breakfast style tasting black teas I had recently, despite such kind of teas not being often in my cup. The taste is deep and layered, with a lot of tannins balancing nearing the edge of where I'd find it unpleasant if it went over. Keemun specific aroma is there and it fits in nicely with layers of toasty and on cusp of something berry-like. Not something I'd drink often, but maybe every now and then when I need strong tea in the morning.

I decided to purchase this cup because, even though I have a good amount of smaller tea cups, I realized I didn't have one that was larger for solo sessions. I didn't want something too plain but I also don't have the budget for some of the pricier options, so I was astonished to find that this was such an affordable price! When it arrived, it arrived in a very nice cushioned box that I can use for long-term storage, as it kept it in perfect condition during the shipping process and it looks nice in its simple elegance. Upon opening the box, my first impression was that the blue of the cup wasn't nearly as vibrant as the promotional art depicts but that didn't bother me too much because I know these are hand-made, which can result in differences from the original piece, and it still looked great. The blue is still a very pleasant shade, though, and the overall design of the cup works perfectly with the lotus bloom in the bottom. Speaking of that, it didn't really do much with a green tea like I made for it on the first day with it, but when I made some Huang Guanyin for a different session, the "silver to gold" effect was genuinely amazing to witness! I really love using this cup for my solo sessions because its design, to me, evokes a peaceful mindset; that effect on the lotus bloom is almost like saying "take the silver in your life and turn it to gold" or, in other words, "don't waste your life, make the most of everything". It's also visually interesting to watch the bubbles that are produced from pouring the tea directly onto the lotus bloom. It makes the already aesthetically pleasing process of pour tea even more enjoyable. I also really appreciate the way this cup handles heat. The aforementioned Huang Guanyin is a rock oolong and those take boiling water if you brew gong fu, but holding the cup after that didn't burn my hands as long as I held it by the lip (as I typically do anyways). It also didn't cool so fast as to become cold quickly, but it did cool at a good rate so I didn't have to wait to start sipping. Altogether, for that price point, you really can't beat what you get here. You know it's good when even family members, some of which don't like tea that much, are saying how much they wish they had one of these!

This is THE best green TGY TeaVivre has to offer and offers high qualitity year after year. The orchid aroma is just superb and is what sets this TGY apart from other TGYs offered by Teavire. As note this tea has a cheaper, less complex spring version and a more complex autumn version (2x price of the spring one). The spring one is really decent option as a daily drinker, but you have to try to the autumn one because although it is twice the price, it is SO MUCH BETTER and you don't get while this tea is so highly regared if you only try the spring version. To be honest, I think the spring and the autumn version should be two different offerings to make the distinction more clear.

One of my favorite black teas from TeaVivre (not much of a black tea drinker). I like the fruitiness that is a different kind of fruit than other black teas. It's not the most complex black tea but a decent daily drinker.

However, the 2025 lot was better than 2026. But this could be a general problem for Lapsang in this year, because some other vendorn shared with me the info that their Wild Lapsang was also not as impressive this year. This year's lot is a bit unimpressive compared to last year and not as long lasting as the previous year. So instead of 6 really good infusions like 2025, the 2026 offers more like 2 good infusions and 3 okayish ones.

I you try this tea and think its okay but not impressive. You should try it again next year, because 2025 was really a banger.

Not a fan of this one. Although this is supposed to be the better version of the Hangzhou Dragon Well Long Jing (same farm but later picked, for 1/3 of the price), it tastes worse in my opinion. I love Teavivre's Organic Nonpareil Ming Qian Dragon Well Long Jing, so I was exicted for this one. However, I struggled with this tea quite a lot and it never turned out quite right. I would suggest experimenting with the temperature. I prefered 80C instead of 85C to tame bitterness but 85C may be a option for the later infusion. The best infusions are the first 4 infusions with decent chestnust and bean aroma like expected of Long Jing. The real problem for me were the later infusions. Infusions 5 and 6 only tasted mediocre and lacked the depth of earlier infusions and had higher bitterness than earlier infusions. The 7th infusion was never not really worth it and I would stick to 6 instead of 7. I think its still worth to order of sampler of this one and try it yourself because everyone favors different things in a Long Jing. Price seems fair for this kind of certified Grade 1 Xihu Long Jing.

This is a really nice addition to TeaVivre's Long Jing lineup. I already tried several Meijiawu Long Jings and was mostly unimpressed by them. Meijiawu is the cheapest Xihu Long Jing region, so it has the Xihu prestige but is often overpriced for its often mediocre quality. While the chestnut aroma is less dominant —which is fine at this price point—, it is nonetheless a decent low bitterness, mild Long Jing. It tastes more like the Shifeng Long Jings I tried in the past. Due to the low bitterness this Long Jing should be exceptional for "Grandpa Style" brewing (I only tried Gong Fu). If you are looking for a milder Long Jing #43 with a hint of chestnut and low bitterness, you shouid choose this one. If you like a strong chestnut aroma I would suggest that you look at Teavivre's non-Xihu Long Jings like the Nonpareil. And if you prefer a balance between chestnut, bitterness and mildness look at Teavivre's other Xihu Long Jings.

I took an afternoon and good part of evening to fully taste this tea using gaiwan. This tea doesn't have a burst of flavor like most of them do, as it releases its flavor rather slowly, like an echo of a white tea and raw pu erh combined. The aromas linger around honeydew, peony and sweet, pectin-like, rosehip jam. The drinking experience is slightly elevated if the tea is left to cooldown to almost lukewarm temperature where the aromas get a little bit more expressed against the lesser heat. This isn't something that I'd drink on a regular basis, maybe in the evening since I didn't notice that it kept me awake late into the night, but the saving grace for this tea in my opinion is its steeping potential that can be drawn out quite a bit.

I've seen of black tea varieties of Long Jing online few years back but I've never had the opportunity to try them, and they seem to have disappear by now. I noticed the famous Xihu origin of this tea and decided to sample it, the cultivar is of heirloom Long Jing so it made me excited a bit as well. The dry leaf is small, tightly rolled and slightly curled, with a few unevenly rolled leaves in a sample. The smell reminds of baked sweet potato with a touch of dry finish. Steeping the leaves in gaiwan revealed a clean brown soup with a faint but clear notes of juicy plums when I took the first sip. The average grip that black tea provides from tannins was missing from the first sip, but it started gradually increasing as I steeped it more. Every sip was quenching but after a few minutes I got the urge to sip it again as the mouth slightly dried up. The aromatic plum impression continued to radiate in mouth in every steep, and in breaks between I could feel sweetness at the tip of my tongue and slight astringency and bitterness in the middle which reminded me of a nice dark chocolate. The tea is very nice, it has its own character, and I might've mistaken it for a very fancy Keemun if I got it without a label.

Nice aroma. Love being able to see the petals float to the to as the tea steeps. Actual jasmine flavour is not as strong as I was expecting, but still pleasant.

I bought this jasmine tea along with the Sample A and Sample B variety packs. While this one was quite good, I found the flavor of the Long Zhu type from Sample B a bit stronger and sweeter. I brewed them exactly as the instructions stated for the cup method (I used a teapot with a removable infusion basket), so perhaps the flavor comes out different using a gaiwan with multiple small steeps or maybe the small batch I got was a bit older. If someone was looking for a cheaper alternative to this one or it didn‘t live up to your expectations, give the Long Zhu type a try.
