I bought this jasmine tea along with the Sample A and Sample B variety packs. While this one was quite good, I found the flavor of the Long Zhu type from Sample B a bit stronger and sweeter. I brewed them exactly as the instructions stated for the cup method (I used a teapot with a removable infusion basket), so perhaps the flavor comes out different using a gaiwan with multiple small steeps or maybe the small batch I got was a bit older. If someone was looking for a cheaper alternative to this one or it didn‘t live up to your expectations, give the Long Zhu type a try.

Love the presentation of the tea once the flowers are fully saturated. Great neutral flavor, slightly less sweet compared to the chrysanthemum bud (tai ju) variety. Be careful not to over steep! The bitterness crept in while trying to get a stronger flavor quicker than with the buds.

Aroma: Chestnut, floral Taste: As the product page says, the first infusion was sweet, mellow, and smooth. There was the smallest tinge of bitterness, but overall the first infusion was delicious. Successive infusions became more bitter. By the fifth infusion the bitterness had made the tea somewhat unpleasant. The smell of the dry tea leaves before infusion is wonderful, the aroma of the first infusion is very nice, and I really liked the first infusion. Unfortunately it was downhill from there. There are obviously people who don't taste the bitterness. Whether you taste it or not depends on genetics. I recommend trying a sample before making a decision to buy or not to buy.

Aroma: Roasted bean, floral, and fruity Taste: Sweet, roasted bean, floral, and fruity. A very slight bit of lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. This will become very bitter if you wait too long between steepings, but a couple of quick rinses with boiling water removes most of the bitterness.

One of my favorite herbal tea choices. The taste reminds me of the tea my friend’s mother would make the few times I visited their house when I was younger. Slightly more sweeter than the fully opened flower variety. Seems like you can go a bit longer with the buds when steeping without the bitterness creeping.

A good variety in this sampler! I ended up finding my favorite type of jasmine tea so far in the Jasmine Dragon Pearls Long Zhu variety. To me the sweet after taste made it a stand out to me. The Nu Er Huan (Daughter’s Ring) left a little to be desired in flavor since it‘s much more expensive compared to the others in the set, but it is a beautiful artisanal design. Honorable mention to the Jasmine Silver Needle White Tea, the first white tea I‘ve tried. It had a very interesting light jasmine flavor mixed with a bit of honeydew melon.

A great assortment of types in this sample! The flavors ranged from more emphasis on the jasmine versus some that had a more balanced profile between that and the green tea taste. My favorite ended up being the Snail (Yu Luo) variety.

The quality of this cabinet exceeded even my best hopes. This was exactly what I wanted, I use it every day. The trays are perfectly designed for tea usage with a nice cutout in the back corner to make it easy to break a cake and just pour the leaves into the brewing container.

I bought a sample and finally tried this tea. This tea is really, really delicious!
The sweet aroma of dried jujubes is very strong. It also reminds me of raisins and dark chocolate because of the sweet aged aroma. The tea soup is very clear and light, so it is very easy and comfortable to drink. It feels soft, light, and clean. The mouthfeel is also very smooth.
The sweet aroma is strong, but it stays for a very long time after drinking. It makes me feel so happy.
I usually like woody flavors and a thick body, but this tea is much sweeter than woody, and the body is actually on the lighter side. Even so, it completely won me over.
I think I brewed it about ten times. Even though the liquor is so clear and light, the tea still has very good endurance and keeps giving flavorful infusions.
If someone has never tried ripe puer tea before, I really hope they start with this one. I honestly think almost everyone will enjoy it. I highly recommend it.
Even if you already have a lot of experience with tea, this is still a wonderful tea for everyday drinking. I think it would even be gentle enough to drink on an empty stomach in the morning.
For me, this is the kind of tea that almost anyone can enjoy. It's a really wonderful tea.

TeaVivre nailed this one. As a massive fan of Dan Cong, this Wudong Song Zhong definitely doesn't disappoint. It hits right away with a beautiful orchid aroma and a thick, creamy mouthfeel. The later steeps really bring out those subtle almond and buttery notes. Exactly what a high-mountain Wudong should be.

Nice black tea with a juicy ripe peach taste and a lightly floral aroma. It lacks endurance though; 5 gram sample pack in a 120mL gaiwan only yields four good infusions.

Aroma: Floral and just a bit of butter. Taste: Mild flavor, floral. I was sipping this as I practiced solfeggio, and as I sang I could taste the sweet, somewhat fruity aftertaste. Very good tea.

Aroma: Roasted tea, floral Taste: Mellow, somewhat floral and a little sweet. This is one of those teas that becomes bitter if you wait too long between steeps, but a couple of quick rinses with boiling water fixes the problem. The product page says 'yanyun “charming rocky rhyme”'. I haven't got any idea what that means, but this is pretty good tea.

Aroma: Roasted tea, floral, and fruit Taste: Bitter. Underneath the bitterness is an interesting tea, somewhat reminiscent of the Formosa Oolong my parents used to buy back in the 1960s. But for me, the bitterness masks any subtleties in the flavor. There are obviously people who don't taste the bitterness. Whether you taste it or not depends on genetics. I recommend trying a sample before making a decision to buy or not to buy.

The leaf appears chopped up, reminding me of breakfast type teas. The aroma is typical of the keemun: slightly floral, woody and noticeably malty. Quick first steep reveals clear brown hue with a subtle floral/honey note followed by malty, almost caramel finish. The following steeps showed more color depth, mouthfeel body, tannins and after a few steeps is starts to feel like breakfast tea to me. It's a decent black tea as a lighter version of breakfast tea. My only complaint is the price, for which better black teas can be picked at Teavivre in my opinion.

Review based on free sample + gongfu method First impressions: dry leaf smell is pleasantly floral. Leaves are mostly broken, as you might expect at this price point. Early brews are sweet, fruity-floral, and smooth. There is a smoky note, which can be a little overpowering if you smell the gaiwan lid, but is fine in the cup. Some astringency emerges over the course of the session, and you should be careful not to oversteep as the flavor shifts to a more tannic, drier, brisk dark-chocolatey profile. Overall, having this in the gaiwan was reasonably enjoyable, but I still recommend springing for one of the more premium options instead, if this is your preferred brewing method. There are very noticeable compromises in mouthfeel, complexity, and flavor profile compared to whole-leaf keemun. They say this would work well with milk, and I believe it would. It seems to have a strong enough flavor to stand up to it, which is sometimes lacking in other small-leaf black teas, and I think you would still get those fruity/floral notes I experienced from the earlier steeps.

The leaves are very narrow and needle-like with some white buds amongst the somewhat dark green palette. Blowing a bit warm air before smelling reveals a very pleasant toasty and sweet aroma. I steeped this using gaiwan, with the whole 5g sample instead of 4g recommended. The liquor is interestingly very bright green and clear, although there are numerous trichomes in it. The mouthtfeel is slightly thick, smooth and ends with moistening impression. The tase is similar to Long Jing (sweet, toasted chestnut), but this one has a little bit more of that "green" vegetal touch to it. At moments I could pick up traces of bamboo leaves and something akin to floral and fruity. The rest of the session was similar tasting with intensity of taste slightly increasing. After finishing the tea the sweetness and light freshness in the mouth lingers for quite a while.

I used 80°C water and steeped the tea 5 times: 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 seconds. I used 2 g of tea in a 60 ml gaiwan. I didn't enjoy this tea the first time with the original recommendations, but on the second attempt with different water temperature and steep times I found it very interesting. The tea smelt sweet and roasted, with a licorice note. The liquor has the same taste and is thick. I felt hot almost immediately, just after the first steep. After the fourth steep I felt more focused. Great tea, but the licorice note is too strong and hides other details.
