Honey honey honey honey. Like the most amber, rich, delicious honey. The tea liquor has a gorgeous deep golden color. And it absolutely is getting better with time, stored in a dry dark place for more than 6 months now. For the price you are getting a really impressive Shou Mei.

The smell of the dry leaf is absolutely intoxicating. I can‘t get enough of it. It just punches you in the face with sweetness. Actually, I can smell the dry leaf from across the room, which can’t be said for every tea, even many of the highest quality (when we’‘re talking about a small pouch at home). I heard this recommended on reddit as the best of Teavivre’s green teas, and of those I‘ve tried so far from this site, I must say I agree. A truly unique green! :)

Fun to try the many varieties. The silver needle with jasmine is certainly my favorite so far. I‘m new to brewing jasmine at home, but I can say all these have beaten any jasmine you can get from your typical tea shop.

Absolutely refreshing as described. It sounds strange to say for drink, but it has a uniquely thirst quenching quality, like better than chugging water when you are parched. Imagine packing that sensations into every sip. Mellow and nutty indeed. The dry leaf has to me a sweet and umami fragrance which totally transforms into fatty, sweet cream upon steeping. Love it :)

Versatile, steadily enjoyable through many steepings gong fu style, a great everyday drinker.

I never had this kind of Pu Erh before, the Bing Dao and its adjacent kind. Therefore, I'm not sure how to frame my opinion on it as it's something that's quite unusual for me. The first steep looks almost white, like I steeped Silver Needle. There's an echo in the distance of something that's aroma and the taste all the while I'm noticing that it lingers in the mouth and in the back of the nose for quite while. After three steeps I'm starting to notice a pale yellow soup colour with, now apparent, fragrance of light honey followed by faint herbal notes. The sweetness starts to add up, but it's not the usual sweetness that sits in the mouth, it's mixed with fragrance and sits in the back of the nose, like a perfume. Followed by further steeps the intensity starts to ramp up but it's nowhere near my average raw Pu Erh experience. There's some form of well established subtlety with this tea and it radiates in the mouth and the nose. Very interesting experience, but I'll have to try more of this kind of Pu Erh before making my mind about it.

I brewed this in slightly larger gaiwan then suggested (140ml) and had a very pleasant afternoon and evening with this tea. The first three steeps are well structured: clean, zero fermentation funk, nice aged wood impression with pleasant short bitterness at the end. Moving on to the following steeps a sweetness comes up, the soup becomes thick and smooth and I'm starting to pick up a faint Turkish delight notes. As I moved to the end of the session I decided to move the leaves into 350ml jug and gently simmer it for about 10 minutes. What I got in the end was a slightly toasty, rice porridge impression that was pleasant to drink. In conclusion, this is a well aged and nicely priced ripe Pu Erh that's worth considering to get for my tea stash.

I bought a bag of last year's harvest of this tea because it was on sale and I wanted a different green to break up my current green teas (mostly Japanese sencha, Chun Ya and two jasmines). I didn't really know much about it aside from the fact that I've had Silver Needle before (Bai Hao Yin Zhen) and it's a bit too delicate for my preferences. So, I didn't really know what to expect here but decided to give it a chance, as the reviews led me to think it would have a resemblance to Japanese sencha (some of my favorite tea). Upon trying it, it took two sessions before this tea started to sink in for me. The first session wasn't BAD but it didn't really do much that I didn't already get from Teavivre's excellent Chun Ya, and even the vegetal aspect didn't even slightly remind me of sencha. After the second session, though, it hit me and I really started to enjoy it! The leaves give off aromas of buttered vegetables (including the sweet corn everyone mentions), some light floral aromatics and a very subtle undertone of summer fruits such as lemon or melons. As for the flavor, it enters with that signature sweet corn flavor: sweet, starchy, somewhat vegetal. As it hits the mid-palate, you start to get just a hint of the floral aromatics before quickly rushing into a sweet finish that reminds me of the sugared donuts I used to enjoy at Chinese buffets here in the States back when those were still common. I can say the flavor of this tea is extremely nostalgic for me, since I've loved sweet corn since I was a child and I used to regularly go to Chinese buffets in the late 90s/early 2000s. The flavor also morphs over the session, leaning harder into the floral element and introducing a level of sweet bitterness (reminds me of a floral raw pu-erh) and light minerality as you run more infusions. Contrary to the site notes, I wouldn't say it's a complex tea (not always a bad thing), nor is it the absolute best green tea I've ever had, but at the sale price ($12.54), it's a downright bargain for what you get here. It's incredible as a summer tea, very refreshing in the heat, and I imagine it would probably make an excellent cold brew. Plus, it takes 5-6 infusions total, so it's also a good one to enjoy if you don't have as much time to sit down for a session!

Love it! I’ve had Zhoushi ripes before, and they’re always exactly what I look for in a shou puerh: rich, thick mouthfeel with sweetness and hints of chocolate followed by astringency. Definitely a favorite of mine.

This is a wonderful black tea with a sweet character. The addition of rose is a great touch, bringing delicate floral notes that complement the tea rather than dominate it. The result is a smooth, fragrant cup with a lovely balance of sweetness and floral aroma.

This sampler pack is a great way to explore compact teas that are perfect for travelling. My favourite was the Moonlight Dragon Ball, which I enjoyed so much that I ordered a larger bag.

This is my first time trying jasmine scented Keemun. Although I'm not a big fan of Jasmine, I find it pleasant this way than with green tea. First few gongfu steeps brought a floral fragrance of Jasmine that wasn't too strong (which I actually prefer) and a mild, pleasantly layered bitterness that quickly went away. Somewhere half-way into the session the bitter element disappeared and the sweetness came in, which was a welcoming surprise. Keemun itself is a tea with medium mouthfeel which I think sits nicely with the jasmine fragrance. By the end of the session I felt the fragrance and sweetness linger in the mouth and the nose in a rather soothing way.

This is an interesting take on scented tea. I've never seen Liu Bao scented with jasmine before so I had to sample it. The jasmine fragrance is more on the sweet than floral side and it compliments a slight earthy character of this Liu Bao. The tea base itself isn't as funky as Liu Bao can get, and in this case it goes well with the jasmine scent. I steeped it using gongfu method and at one point I had to pause with the session and come back to it later in the day. The jasmine scent was still there and the overall impression is that this tea is easy and pleasant to drink, feels somewhere between black tea and ripe Pu Erh, but lacks high points to make it more memorable for me.

For 7 USD this is great. Even if this is 2025 crop, it doesn't matter - the tea is still fragrant.

This is a very good tea with a unique character. If you like green tea made from older leaves, you might love this, as it provides some bite/astringency that is nicely mellowed by the roasted/cacao notes.
